Towards a Greener Future with Cleantech

Advances in technology have changed so many things in our daily lives. The way we communicate, do business, build things, travel and so much more. Technological advances are also being utilized to solve some of the world’s most pressing issues, like climate change. Clean technology, or cleantech, has been embraced across the globe to reduce the negative environmental impact across all industries from manufacturing and production to agriculture, transportation, and beyond. Simply put, cleantech is an advanced product, process or service that reduces environmental impact.

Read on as we dive into how cleantech holds the key to a healthier future for our planet.

As the global community takes collective action against climate change and works to achieve their Net Zero goals, there is a great opportunity for Canadian innovation to lead the way. According to the Global Cleantech Innovation Index 2021, Canada is the second country in the world when it comes to leading cleantech innovation. Given its abundance of natural resources, highly educated population and innovative investments and inventions, it is no surprise that Canada’s cleantech market was expected to exceed $2.5 trillion globally by 2022

At HEMPALTA™, we’re leading the charge towards sustainability with hemp. Through our cleantech practices, we’re focused on innovative hemp processing and sustainable product creation. We utilize advanced technology to create and manufacture hemp-based sustainable alternatives that significantly reduce non-biodegradable plastic waste. HEMPALTA works with progressive farmers and local industries to reduce agricultural waste and ensure that the entirety of the hemp crop is used, which is otherwise discarded.

Why hemp, you ask? Sometimes referred to as a “miracle plant”, hemp is an example of cleantech on its own. It has a very small ecological footprint as it requires little water, grows rapidly and enriches the soil. The production of industrial hemp is carbon negative, which means hemp absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere during its growth than is emitted by the equipment used to harvest, process and transport it.

Our passionate team of experienced hemp advocates and world-recognized researchers have discovered the sustainable powers of hemp and how, with the right technology, it can produce high-value and environment-friendly products that are 100% biodegradable, natural and reusable.

As one of the only commercial-scale hemp processors in North America, HEMPALTA uses state-of-the-art advanced cleantech that operates as a near zero waste manufacturing facility. The HempTrain™ Advanced Processing Plant at our facility effectively converts all hemp feedstock into high-value product streams, ensuring that no part of the plant is wasted. We employ green engineering practices to sustainably produce a diverse line of hemp products that are not only safe and natural but also healthier for people, pets and the planet.

Learn more about our effort to use cleantech today to build a greener tomorrow, one hemp product at a time.
