Hempycat Vs. Traditional Cat Litter
Traditional cat litter is made from clay which contains harmful compounds such as sodium bentonite and crystalline silica. It is believed that bentonite clay, often used in clumping cat litters, may cause adverse health effects in cats. Fine clay particles can group together, blocking passages and irritating tissues; ultimately leading to respiratory problems and urinary gastrointestinal blockage, amongst other health risks. In addition, the clay used in traditional litter is collected from strip mining. Strip mining is incredibly detrimental to the environment as trees, land and wildlife are removed to access sub-surface clay deposits. HempyCat cat litter is made with your cat’s health in mind, ensuring only the best care. Our cat litter is made from 100% renewable Canadian grown hemp. Our all-natural ingredients are not harmful to your cat’s health. Our litter is safe for you, your cat, and the environment.

HempyCat Litter will not harm your cat. Our litter is 7X more lightweight than traditional litter and does not contain clumping agents, fillers, chemicals, silica dust or toxic clay that may cause adverse health effects in cats. Fine clay particles group together, and can block passages and irritate tissues; ultimately leading to respiratory problems & urinary gastrointestinal blockages, among other health risks. Our litter is also biodegradable and flushable, so you don’t have to worry about clogging your septic system!
Is HempyCat Litter flushable?
Yes! HempyCat Litter is septic safe. Unlike clay-based litters, HempyCat Litter does not contain harmful clumping agents or clay that could build up and clog septic systems. The natural antibacterial properties of hemp means our cat litter is resistant to bacteria. In addition, our litter is 100% biodegradable and can be composted.
Is HempyCat Lightweight Hemp Cat Litter fragrance-free?

How do I keep the litter box from smelling and how often should I scoop?
HEMPALTA™Pets Lightweight Hemp Cat Litter is proven to be highly effective at controlling odors. It's best to scoop daily to keep the rest of the litter fresh. Cats are naturally very clean animals and prefer a clean litter box. HEMPALTA™Pets Lightweight Hemp Cat Litter is ultra absorbent, absorbing 5X more than other litters. HEMPALTA™Pets has no clumping agents or toxic clay added; so you don't waste time chiseling and scraping the litter box. Say goodbye to wet messy litter!
Why is HempyCat the healthiest and safest litter?
HempyCat Litter is engineered to be the healthiest and safest litter in the world. Unlike clay, or pelletized/bound plant-based litters made from compressed or bonded waste dust, our litter is the only litter on the market made from solid, whole granules from the core of the hemp plant. Pelletized litters often have low absorption, and rapidly expand and break down when exposed to moisture, becoming dangerous to cats if eaten. Litters with bound dust will break down when wet, leading to harmful airborne dust when dry.
HempyCat Litter is clean, eco-friendly, dust-free and does not contain clumping agents, fillers, chemicals, silica dust or toxic clay that may cause adverse health effects in cats.
HEMPALTA™Pets is also 100% biodegradable, flushable and green bin safe, so you don’t have to worry about clogging your septic system!

Absolutely! Our general recommendation is one cat per litter box. To avoid potential conflicts, consider placing boxes in different areas of the house, rather than right next to each other.
Is it safe to change cat litter while pregnant or with a suppressed immune system?
While there are no health risks associated with HempyCat Litter, pregnant women and people with suppressed immune systems should exercise caution and avoid contact with used cat litter, as cat waste can transmit a disease called toxoplasmosis. Consult your physician for more information.
Is HempyCat compatible with automatic self-cleaning litter boxes?
The lower absorbency and use of clumping agents in traditional litter leads to the formation of extremely large solid clumps; which are then caught in the sensor rake and removed from the box. Unfortunately, self-cleaning litter boxes are designed to remove these clumps only.
